Born in Gordon, GA, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Martin and William Andrew Barrentine. She spent most of her early years in Iva, SC, and was raised by her aunt, Mrs. Sanford Presley Brown. She graduated from Macon Hospital's School of Nursing at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She served as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Nursing Corps during World War II. Her nursing career spanned many years and she was employed with Anderson Memorial Hospital, Latham Nursing Home, Ellenburg Nursing Home, as well as years of private duty practice. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Anderson, but also regularly attended the Iva Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.Survivors are a husband of 65 years, Gus Omundson; and one son, Andy Omundson and his wife, Vicki, of Greenwood, SC.The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Station One of NHC of Anderson for all of the attention, love, and support extended to Mrs. Omundson and her husband while she was a resident at NHC for over seven and one-half years.A Graveside Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, conducted by Dr. Randy Hall.
