Mary Ellen Bodie Patterson, age 89, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Newberry, SC, on October 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Margaret Brock Bodie. She graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, NC and retired after many years as a secretary at Lakeside Junior High School. Mary was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the Faith Sunday School Class. She is survived by her children, Chuck Patterson (Shirley McAlister), Nancy Desing (Mike) and Kelly Bostic (Sean); four grandchildren, Sarah and Lauren Desing and Meghan and Patrick Bostic; and two sisters, Katherine Berry (James) and Shirley Pitts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Patterson, Jr. The family will receive friends at Concord Baptist Church on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Dr. Don Cox will officiate. A private entombment will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
