MARY ELGIN REED STARR, SC Mary Elgin Reed, age 82, of Starr, SC passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at her residence. Born in Anderson, SC on May 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Reece Elgin and the late Ruby Gilbert Elgin. She worked in textiles for many years. She is survived by her children, Diane Dyar (Robert), of Starr, SC, Connie Smith, of Starr, SC, Kay Campbell (Dean), of Belton, SC, Gladys Smith of Starr, SC and Linda Sherman (Carl), of Pendleton, SC; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and 2 sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Reed; and a son, Albert C. Smith, Jr. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Garrett Hart and ChaplainKevin Thompson with Gentiva Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
