Mary Ruth Evans, 91, of Anderson, passed away on December 20, 2017. Born March 8, 1926, in Anderson, Mary was a daughter of the late Hansel Whitfield and the late Mary Mize Whitfield. She was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School. She was an active and faithful member of North Anderson Baptist Church. Mary retired from Belk's Department Store with thirty-five years of service. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Evans Burroughs (Joe) of Conway, SC, and their son, Tony Evans (Dottie) of Signal Mountain, TN; and son-in-law, Michael Kramer of Lynchburg, VA; sisters, Zelma Dodgens, Nell Bailey and Betty Baker all of Anderson; brothers, Billy, Johnny and Wade Whitfield, all of Anderson, and Larry Whitfield of Honea Path. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years, the late Leroy "Bo" Evans; a daughter, Gloria Kramer; a grandson, Blake Evans; and four sisters and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 12:00 p.m., at North Anderson Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Rigsby officiating. Internment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends at Forest Lawn following the service.
