Mary Stamps Black, age 94, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at NHC Healthcare Anderson.

Born May 24, 1930, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late David Stamps and Sally Gunter Stamps. She was married for over 63 years to Benjamin Franklin Black until his death in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Lyn Black; brothers, Joe Stamps, Tommy Stamps, and Isom Stamps; and sisters, Lillie Bell Morgan, Bobbie Stamps Reyns, and Frances Stamps Wheeler.

Mary was retired from Appleton Mill and was a member of Garner Memorial Baptist Church which she loved so dearly. She also loved to cook (her peach cobbler could not be matched!), crocheting, and painting ceramics, especially Christmas pieces for her family. Mary loved all animals but loved her bird "Charlie" and her dog "Trixie" most of all.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Black Barbare; grandchildren, Timothy Owen Barbare (Tonya) of Anderson, David Benjamin Barbare of Belton, and David Lyn Black, Jr. of Anderson; and great grandchildren, Ty Barbare of Anderson, Alli Barbare of Anderson, Ethan Barbare of Belton, and Mason Barbare of Belton.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 11:30 am until 12:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Jack Couch officiating. Burial will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes.
