SMITH July 31, 1911 - July 28, 2009ANDERSON, SCMary Sanders Smith, age 97, formerly of Levis Road, Pendleton, SC, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Brookside Living Center.Born in Double Springs Community on July 31, 1911, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Claud and Mallie Sullivan Sanders. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Anderson County Hospital School of Nursing in 1932 and made nursing her lifelong career. She retired from the AnMed Health Medical Center after many devoted years as Nurse Manager of the Nursery. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, the T.E.L. Sunday School Class and the Nancy Duckworth Circle. Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Ted Smith, Betty and Dennis Jordan; one grandchild, Dennis L. Jordan, Jr., three great-grandchildren, Brittany Denise Jordan, Steven Dennis Jordan and Orie Richard Smith; a sister, Doris O'Neal; three nieces and four nephews.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, D. K. Smith; two grandchildren, Richard Dale and Patricia Lynn Smith and four brothers, Franklin, Roy, Nevitte and Clyde Sanders.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11:30 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Marion Mitchell. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.The family will be at the home of her daughter, Margaret Smith, 1610 Levis Smith Road, Pendleton, SC.Flowers are optional.
