Mary Elizabeth Whitten Snelgrove, age 95, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2026, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born March 19, 1931, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Whitten and Iva Parlee McKinney Whitten. She was married to Archie Paul Snelgrove, Sr. until his death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy, Cliff, Louis, and James Whitten; sisters, Eloise Dutton and Ruth Campbell; and granddaughter, Angela Crist.

Mary was a prayer warrior to all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Archie "Paul" Snelgrove, Jr. (Cheryl) of Anderson, SC, and Brian Keith Snelgrove (Joy) of Easley, SC; daughters, Patsy Morency of Rock Hill, SC, Shirley Peavey (Bobby) of Keystone Heights, FL, and Debbie Harbert (Roy) of Anderson, SC; sister, Helen McElrath of Anderson, SC; 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Dickson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621.
