Mary Spires went to Heaven to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 2, 2021. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Price Spires, her parents, Rob and Katie Powell, a sister, Bobbie Houston, brothers and sisters-in law, ML and Vickie Powell, William Powell, John and Kitty Powell and Charles Powell, and son in law, Wayne Rogers. She was devoted to and is survived by children, Leah and Kevin Mitchell, Walter and Gigi Spires, and Becky Rogers. She loved being a grandmother to Shanna Mitchell Johnson (Chad), Trey Spires (Sara), Gracie Spires Moakler (Steve), Jessica Rogers, and Zach Spires. God blessed her with five great-grandchildren Chloe, CJ, and Ella Johnson and Jack and Willie Moakler. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Jane Powell and a number of nieces and nephews. At seventeen she married and followed Price through their 21 years in the US Navy. From Virginia to California and places in between she packed up three children and made a home wherever they were stationed. When they landed in Anderson, SC, she found her home. Mary was a long-time member of Concord Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of a circle and Sunday school class and taught Training Union. A dear friend labeled her "meals on wheels" for all the meals she prepared for friends and fellow church members. Her last years were spent at Wickshire Steele Creek in Charlotte where the staff loved and cared for her. The family extends their deepest appreciation to them. The family will be at The McDougald Funeral Home, 2211 North Main Street from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 for visitation and Thursday, May 6th at 10:00 am for a Celebration of Life Service with Rev.
