Mary Ellen Warner, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at NHC of Anderson. Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Furman Gaines Summey and the late Mary Ellen Erwin Summey. She was a graduate of Anderson University and was in the first graduating class with females at Clemson University. Mary earned her Master's Degree in Education from The Citadel and began her career as an Earth Science teacher in Charleston. She was awarded the Order of the Palmetto from Governor David Beasley in South Carolina and was a member of the Clemson Alumni Association. She was also a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC. She is survived by a son, John R. Warner, III and his wife Jane, of Greer, SC; a daughter, Lisa E. Magruder and her husband Mike, of Texas; a sister, Margaret Elizabeth Wilson; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Warner, Jr. The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Sandy Springs with Reverend Danny Bridges officiating.
