Mary Anne Smith Williams went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 9th, 2020 at the age of 64. She leaves behind her beloved husband, of 43 years Dexter Paul Williams, her five blessed children, Mary Elisabeth Cutliff (Tim), Hope Burch (Eric), Susannah Browne (Chris), Melody Bennett (Dan) and Joshua Williams (Sarah), as well as thirteen adored grandchildren: Gracie, Annaleigh, Micah, Tucker, Chloe Bekah, Noah, Turner, Ryder, Mary Alice, Jack, Sadie, Elias and one on the way. She also leaves behind her parents, Benjamin J. and Sally Fretwell Smith; brothers, Bart Smith (Janice) and Mark Smith (Debbie); and sister, Cathie (A.P). She is preceded in death by her grandson, Samuel who greeted her in Glory! She was a founding and faithful member of New Covenant Church for 36 years. She taught preschool at Anderson Christian School for the last 30 years and was adored by all of her students, their parents and other staff . She was devoted to her family, blessed countless people with her many ministries and served others continually. Her smile lit up a room and her gentle and quiet spirit were a comfort to all who knew her. She could tell the best stories and make you laugh until it hurt, but also could wrap her arms around you and feel the greatest comfort and peace. She was constantly making meals for those who were in need. She loved to sing and play her guitar and mandolin. She spent her earthly life serving her community, church, children, grandchildren, friends and strangers. She demonstrated the best of Christ's love to everyone. Sentences and paragraphs cannot summarize a life lived so fully. The loss is heavy, but the hope is great. Her favorite verse was Isaiah 43:1-7, "But now, this is what the Lord says, He who is your Creator, Jacob, And He who formed you, Israel:"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;I have called you by name; you are Mine!When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,Nor will the flame burn you. For I am the Lord your God,The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;I have given Egypt as your ransom, and Seba in exchange for you.Since you are precious in My sight,Since you are honored and I love you,I will give other people in your place and other nations in exchange for your life.Do not fear, for I am with you;I will bring your offspring from the east,And gather you from the west. I will say to the north, 'Give them up!'And to the south, 'Do not hold them back.'Bring My sons from afarAnd My daughters from the ends of the earth,Everyone who is called by My name,And whom I have created for My glory,Whom I have formed, even whom I have made." There will be a private burial on Thursday afternoon and a Celebration of her Life on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at 4:00 pm at New Covenant Church, 301 Simpson Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
