Matthew Alexander Wendt passed away in Seneca, SC on December 23rd, 2021, at the age of 19. Matthew was born on January 8th, 2002 in Anderson, SC to Dr. John and Kelly Wendt. He graduated from T.L. Hanna High School in 2020 and was a student at Tri County Technical College. He loved hunting, fishing, grilling, scuba diving, and camping. More than his adventurous hobbies, he will be remembered for his adventurous spirit that he shared with his father, his passion for fast cars that he experienced with his brother, and his sense of humor that his mother and sisters always enjoyed. It was through the ministry of Young Life that Matthew discovered his faith. He was brought closer to Christ through his relationships with his leaders and friends. We find comfort in knowing that he is in heaven with his Young Life leader Alec DeJong. Matthew is survived by his parents and siblings; Austin Wendt, Katie Bolus, and Morgan Wendt and his brother-in-law, Greg Bolus. There will be a drop-in visitation from 4-6pm on Thursday December 30, 2021, at The McDougald Funeral Home located at 2211 North Main Street, Anderson, SC. The service will be held at 2:30pm, Friday December 31, 2021, at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
