Mattie W. Davis 92, of Anderson passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 4, 1924 in Greenville County, SC; Mattie was a daughter of the late Coon Kindred Watson and the late Nellie Lee Gault Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Broadus Pelham Davis, Sr. last year. This coming Sunday would have been their 74th wedding anniversary. During her career, she had worked for 20 years at Orr Lyons Mill; 10 years with American Enka in Central, SC; 10 years with Best Western and had also worked in food service for District 5 for 10 years. She was a faithful member of Pope Drive Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Broadus P. Davis, Jr. and his wife Anna, of Anderson, SC; daughter, Elaine Sumerel and her husband, Jim, of Laurens, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy, C.K., R.F. and B.F. Watson and sisters, Sadie Shaw, Marie Davis, Nellie Tucker Adams, Velma Goldman, Freda Watson and Virginia Watson. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 pm Sunday, July 16, 2017 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Reverend Dr. Matthew Danuser officiating. A private burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their residence. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Mildred Todd and Connie Hamby and Hospice of Upstate staff, Shannon Seigler and Janet Fant for their care and compassion shown to Mrs. Davis.
