Mattie Hix Saylors, age 96, of Anderson, SC, loving wife to the late S.P. "Pete" Saylors, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at her residence. Born September 26, 1924, in Oconee, SC, she was the daughter of the late Dendy Hix and Lula Standridge Hix. She had formerly worked in textiles before beginning a career as a mail carrier for the Pendleton Post Office where she later retired. Mattie enjoyed vegetable gardening and all types of flowers. She was a dedicated member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Larry Saylors (Barbara); sister, Ruth Rice; two granddaughters, Julie Martin (Jeff), and Laura Saylors (Jeremy Jackson); two great-grandchildren, Rachel, and Peyton Martin; and her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, and three sisters. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Philip Blankenship officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service. The family will be at the residence.
