Mattie Belinda Ashley Ward, age 66, of Iva, SC, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born July 19, 1957, in Anderson, SC, she was the only child of Shirley Gray Ashley and the late Wesley Ashley. She and her mother were extremely close, depending on each other from the very beginning.

Lindy was a graduate of Crescent High School Class of 1975 and was a dental hygienist for Dr. Curtis for 40 years before retiring. She was a member of Truth Baptist Church. She loved to shop and knew how to find a bargain. She loved having her family over for meals and especially loved the holidays. Lindy would decorate for the holidays with a different theme each year. The table would be immaculate with gorgeous décor, floral arrangements, and treats on each plate for her guests. She excelled at and thrived on being a hostess and loved that her husband Jimmy helped her. Lindy will be remembered as a sweet and kind woman who loved people, was a great listener and made everyone feel welcome.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of almost 46 years, Jimmy Ward.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Truth Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Minto and Rev. Jerry Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Iva City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00-2:30 pm.
