Mavis Jewell Anderson, age 85, of Honea Path, SC, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, at NHC Healthcare Anderson. Born September 1, 1936, in Huntsville, TX, she was the daughter of the late John Harman and Mary Alma Alexander. Mavis worked for the County of Los Angeles, CA for 30 years and loved the time she spent in California and her home in South Pasadena. She had a unique ability to complete any crossword puzzle and loved all animals, but especially her own. She enjoyed attending Honea Path First Baptist Church. Mavis was a hardworking and loving mother and loved being "GG" to her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her only daughter, Jackie Barnes and special son-in-law, David Barnes; grandchildren, Nachel Meyer (Drew) and Dillon Barnes (Rylee); and great-grandchildren, Jamie Meyer and Bradley Meyer. Services will be announced at a later date. The family would like to thank Tim Hopkins and the staff at Caris Hospice for their love and care.
