Maxie Mae Palmer, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her home. Born in Oconee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ben Sorrow and the late Inez King Sorrow. She was the retired owner and operator of Maxine's Beauty Salon on Highway 24 in Townville, SC for more than 20 years. Maxie was a member of Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church in Townville, SC and attended Oakdale Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Ralph Robert Palmer and his wife Rhonda, of Luther, OK and Kenneth Eugene Palmer, of Townville, SC; a brother, Ray Sorrow, of NC; three sisters, Evelyn Sullivan, of Fair Play, SC, Mildred Davis, of Anderson, SC, and Betty Long, of Westminster, SC; three grandchildren, Samantha Baylee Palmer, of Pendleton, SC, Samantha Jo Strickland, of Anderson, and Katie Holbrook, of Beaufort, SC; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Landon, and Caroline Bonk and Destiny and Reign Strickland; and her companion, W.L. Moon, of Townville, SC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Palmer; and a sister, Vernell Harris. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakdale Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. David Blizzard officiating. The family requests those attending to dress casually.
