Melvin Horace Aycock, age 79, of Starr, SC, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015. Born in Anderson, SC, on April 18, 1936, he was the son of the late James Aycock and the late Ruth Morgan Aycock. He was a graduate of Boys High School. Melvin served in the Army Reserves for ten years. He retired from BASF as a supervisor after 26 years and enjoyed cooking chili and stew for his department. He was a member of the Divver Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, an avid camper, and a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and a great dad. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy Evans Aycock; his daughter, Tonya Aycock; three step-children, Fredda Jordan, Tina Harbert, and Sherrie Littlefield; grandchildren, Dawn Hayden, Misty Tredway, Kendell Fields, Whitney Smith, Julia Harbert, and Savannah Littlefield; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, George Aycock; and two sisters, Mayzell Mauldin and Claudette Aycock. In addition to his parents and step-mother, Pauline Aycock, he was preceded in death by a son, Myron Aycock; step-son, Tim Smith; brothers, Charles, William, Jerry Aycock and Buddy Griffith. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Mark Dickson officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Sherrie, 127 McClain Lake Drive, Anderson, and will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
