Melvin Richard Simmons, 76, of Anderson, SC, loving and devoted husband of Angie Hill Simmons, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his residence. Born April 4, 1943 in Clearwater, SC, Melvin was a son of the late Estelle Elizabeth Self Simmons. He retired from working in textiles and also worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed racing stock cars and motorcycles and was an avid hunter. In addition to his wife, Melvin is survived by his daughter, Kimberly A. Dickerson; son, Joshua Hill; five grandchildren, Devin Dickerson, Danielle Fields, Jonelle Simpson and Jacob and Addison Hill; and one great-great granddaughter, Rose Fields. In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela S. Simpson; and brothers, Charles and Gary Simmons. The funeral service will be held at Anchor Point Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gordy Craft officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
