Michael Wayne Carnes, age 69, of 139 Mediterranean Avenue, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson on May 11, 1947, he was the son of the late Henry K. Carnes and the late Mary Della Tollison Carnes. Michael was a graduate of T. L. Hanna High School, Class of 1967. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from which he retired after 22 years of service. Mr. Carnes attended Belmont Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Sandie Powell Carnes of the residence; two daughters, Lisa M. Harris (Dean) of Sumter, SC, Katrina L. Allen (Steve) of Anderson; a brother, William Carnes (Carol) of Sylmar, CA; a sister, Shirley Junkins (Butch) of Anderson; also surviving are four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carnes was preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Landrith, Willie Mae Vickery, and Pat Giles. Funeral services will be held at the Committal Shelter at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016, with Rev. Alan Rhodes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
