MICHAEL HIGGINBOTHAM January 9, 1947 - December 18, 2008 ANDERSON, SCMr. Michael Elliott Higginbotham, age 61, husband of Clara James Higginbotham of 3710 South Main Street, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at his residence.Born in Anderson, SC on January 9, 1947, Mr. Higginbotham was a son of the late Dock Higginbotham and Lucy Mae Turner Higginbotham. He was a graduate of Crescent High School and served in the United States Navy. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas with over 30 years of service. He was an avid deer hunter and a member of The Living Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Clara James Higginbotham of the home; daughters, Michelle Hoffman and her husband, Brian of Ridgeville, SC, Melissa Young and her husband, Chuck of Starr and Jennifer Ayers and her husband, Jason of Anderson; stepchildren: Kevin Jordan and his wife, Danna; Russell Jordan and his wife Tommi and Melanie Allen and her husband Chad, all of Anderson; brothers, James 'Bud' Higginbotham and his wife, Clara Bell, Ed Higginbotham and his wife, Sara, Randy Higginbotham and his wife, Suzie and Jimmy Higginbotham and his wife, Nancy; sisters, Dorothy Simpson, Alice Brown and her husband, Curt and Carolyn Cromer; twelve grandchildren, Nicolas and Elijah Hoffman, Kelsey and Katie Young, Alexis Ayers, Bailee and Carter Jordan, Hunter and Ashtyn Allen and Dylan, Braeden and Landen Jordan. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Ron Poole. Interment will follow in M. J. 'Dolly' Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Upstate Veterans Honor Guard.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.The family will be at the home of Melanie Allen, 113 Beaver Creek Road, Anderson, SC.Flowers are optional.
