Sanderson, age 75, husband of Karen Louise Kastberg Sanderson of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at his residence.Born in Detroit, MI on June 30, 1936, Mr. Sanderson was the son of the late Stevens Sackett Sanderson and Charlotte Garrison Sanderson. At the age of three, he moved to Tacoma, WA. He attended Washington & Lee University before entering the United States Navy. Following his military service, he graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. He retired from Safco Insurance Corporation in Seattle, WA as an underwriter in the Home Office for 33 years. In 1993, he moved to Anderson, SC and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church and a teacher in the Joy Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, of the home; sons, David Sanderson and his wife, Suzanne of Medford, OR and Mark Sanderson and his wife, Jamie of Seattle, WA and three grandchildren.A celebration of the life of Michael Sanderson will be held at Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Paul Cheezem officiating.The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
