Michael Irving Day, age 76, of Simpsonville, SC passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born December 9, 1940 in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late Irving Day and the late Phyllis Day. Mike retired from United Airlines with 40 years of service. He served in the United States Navy, as a medic assigned to the United States Marine Corp. He loved the lake, his dogs, and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary McBain; sons, Andrew Michael Day (Dawn), Matthew Michael Day (Faye), Erik Michael Day (Craig) and their mother, Janet; brothers, Richard L. Day (Henrietta) and Charles G. Day (Susan); six grandchildren, Darriane, Logan, Courtney, Jordan, Jesse and Sammy. There will be a gathering of friends and family from 2-3 pm Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Brookwood Church, 580 Brookwood Point Place, Simpsonville, SC 29681. A service will follow at 3:00 pm.
