Wayne Michael Gaines, age 72, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at AnMed Medical Center.

Born February 26, 1951, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Rev. Donolee Gaines and Maebelle Carter Gaines. He was married to Patricia Willis Gaines until her death in 2016. He was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne Michael Gaines, Jr.; and brother, Roger Dale Gaines.

Mike retired from BASF with 30 years of service to the company. He enjoyed camping, the beach, traveling, restoring classic cars, and cutting grass. One of his favorite places to eat was Back Street BBQ in Hartwell, GA. Mike loved his family and any time he spent with them brought him great joy. He attended Trinity Springs Church of God.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Dale Gaines and Curtis Jason Gaines; sisters, Ronda Gaines Coble and her husband "DC", and Donnie Sue Vickery; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 5 nieces, and 5 nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Trinity Springs Church of God with Rev. Allen Black and Rev. Lou Franklin officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will be at the residence, 707 Travis Rd., Anderson, SC.
