Bertie Mildred Moore Bostic, 83, of Starr, went home to be with her Lord on September 23, 2023, at her residence where she was lovingly cared for during an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Billy Sebe Bostic, daughter Jill Melissa Bostic, and daughter Gena Bostic Alberson.
Born in Starr, SC on January 3, 1940, she was daughter of the late Henry Newton Moore, Sr., and Geneva Brooks Moore. She was a member of the first graduating class of Crescent High School in 1957 and a 1959 graduate of Anderson College, where she studied music. Mildred worked for the Peoples Bank of Iva from 1978 until retiring in 2007. She enjoyed the people there and treasured the friendships of coworkers.
Mildred's great love in life was music. She was the devoted organist of Starr Baptist Church for 58 years, serving from 1963-2021. She also served as pianist at Flat Rock Baptist Church from 1959-1962. Mildred taught private piano and organ lessons for over 18 years, sharing her love of music with many children, teens, and adults. She enjoyed the ministry of playing for funerals and also rejoicing with families by playing for weddings. Along with playing the organ at Starr Baptist, Mildred also enjoyed her prayer group and serving in the Good News Club for many years.
Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "YaBee".
She is survived by her daughter Angie Bostic Thomas and husband, Marc, of Chattanooga, TN; granddaughter Anna Thomas Chambers (Korey); grandson Brooks Thomas; great granddaughter Reagan Olivia Chambers; and son-in-law Dean Alberson (Cathy).
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Moore Campbell; and brothers, Henry N. Moore, Jr., and Alvin Ray Moore. Mildred treasured family and had many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews in both the Moore and Bostic families.
The family will forever be grateful for the beautiful caregivers who cared for Mildred with such love and grace in her home during her illness. They also express great gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their care for Mildred during this time.
