MILDRED SMITH HEWIN April 23, 1926 - October 24, 2008ANDERSON, SCMildred Smith Hewin, age 82, wife of Harold Lee 'Red' Hewin of 1900 Millgate Road, Anderson, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Liberty, SC on April 23, 1926, Mrs. Hewin was a daughter of the late Joe E. Vaughan and Eulelia Porter Vaughan. She was a homemaker and a volunteer at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she was the secretary of the Faith Sunday School Class for over twenty years.She is survived by her husband, Harold Lee 'Red' Hewin of the home; daughter, Jan Elizabeth Verbeck and her husband, Art of Anderson, SC; sons, Richard Donnell Smith and his wife Lynne of Mansfield, OH and Marion Steven Smith and his wife, Margaret of Liberty, SC; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, William Marion Smith; stepson, Thomas Lee Hewin; brother, Edward 'Dock' Vaughan and sister, Mary Pauline Clark. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Liberty Memorial Gardens officiated by the Reverend Dr. Don R.
