ANDERSON, SC'Mrs. Mildred Louise Gaines Peterson, age 76, wife of Buford Peterson of 1704 Leeward Landing, Anderson SC, died Friday, February 3, 2006 at Hospice of the Upstate, Anderson, SC.Born in Clinton, SC on April 29, 1929, Mrs. Peterson retired from J. P. Stevens, Clemson Plant. She was a member of the River of Life Church of God, a member of the church choir, and worked in the nursery for several years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Sammy Gaines and Tony Gaines, both of Anderson, SC and Ricky Gaines of Mauldin, SC; daughters, Peggy Black and Sheryl Mayfield, both of Anderson, SC, Barbara E. Brown of Starr, SC, Deborah Parker of Pendleton, SC and step-daughter, Linda Bridges of Simpsonville, SC; sisters, Nan Bennett of Anderson, SC and Pearl Mize of Starr, SC. Sixteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive her.Her first husband, Grady 'Snook' Gaines; a son, Larry Gaines; a brother, Bill Clemmons and three sisters, Evie Orr, Rosie Bridges and Mary Elmore preceded her in death. The family is at the home of a granddaughter, Kristie and Steven Brown, 1602 Old Denver School Road, Anderson, SC.
