Mildred Elizabeth Thornton Timms, age 87, of 3305 Refuge Road, Central, SC, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Rainey Hospice House, with family by her side. Born in Elberton, GA, on April 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James Victor Thornton and the late Ruby Dixon Thornton. For fifty-eight years, Mildred was the devoted wife of Albert Dennis Timms until his death in 2007. Mrs. Timms was a graduate of Anderson's Girls High School. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) and the Red Hat Society. She attended the Pendleton First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the church choir. She also attended Refuge Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, James Albert Timms and his wife, Lynn, of Central, SC; two daughters, Deborah Elizabeth Bzdyl and her husband Don of Pendleton, and Mary Nan Timms of Central; one grandchild, Crystal Cox and her husband Trevor of Pendleton; and two great-grandchildren, Jae and Katie Cox. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Albert, Mrs. Timms was preceded in death by a grandchild, Paul Bzdyl; and two half-sisters, Francis Thornton and Opal Riddle. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Mildred Timms will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Trevor Cox, Rev. Heath Bowie and Rev. Gerald Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Pendleton First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, September 28, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Timms may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
