WHITWORTH February 9, 1921 - March 30, 2009ANDERSON, SCMildred Geddings Whitworth, age 88, of 225 Greenmeadow Circle, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson, SC on February 9, 1921, Mrs. Whitworth was a daughter of the late Graham L. Geddings and Thelma McLeod Geddings Land. She earned a business degree from Anderson College. She and Mr. Whitworth retired as managers of Scarboro Auto Accessories after 32 years of service. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and the Alathean Sunday School class.Survivors include her son, Bob Whitworth (Becky) and daughter, Sandra Whitfield (Ken) of Anderson; brother, Bill Geddings of Dalzell, SC; sisters, Ruth Black and E. L. Young, both of Camden, SC; brother-in-law, Albert Armstrong of New Ellington, SC and sister-in-law, Ethel Geddings of Anderson. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Sherri Tribble, Jennifer Rollins and Ashley Williams and five great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, R. Buford Whitworth; two brothers and two sisters.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Mike Davis. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm on Thursday.The family will be at the home of her daughter, 227 Greenmeadow Circle, Anderson, SC.Flowers are optional.
