James Milton Meredith, 91, of Fair Play, SC passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.

Milton was born on June 23, 1933, and was a son of the late Jesse Calhoun Meredith and the late MaryEllen Glenn Meredith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Carrie Ruth Meredith; brothers, Lake, Joe, Clayton, Jack and Leon Meredith; and sisters, Sue Isbell and Arnetta Madden.

He worked for Frank Distributing Company for over thirty years. Milton loved his church, Beaverdam Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and assisted with the maintenance of the church yard and cemetery. He and his brothers were musically talented, with Milton playing his guitar. They spent many hours playing, singing and dancing. Milton was also a Mason and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife of three years, Mary Garvin Meredith; children, Edna Richey Cleveland, Joe T. Garvin, Jr. and Kelly Garvin; grandchildren, Wesley Cleveland and Sherry Black; three great grandchildren; and a number of great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm at Beaverdam Baptist Church, Fair Play, SC. The funeral service will follow visitation, at 1:00 pm with Reverend Stacey Griffis officiating. Burial will be at the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by Campbell Patriots Post #184.
