Minnie E. "MeMaw" Shirley, 73, loving wife of the late Roy "Bud" Leon Shirley, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elberton, GA, on September 15, 1944, Minnie was the daughter of the late Henry Haley Powell and Edith Lester Powell. Minnie worked as an inspector for Michelin where she later retired after many years of service. Minnie is survived by her children, Randy White (Faith), Ray Garrett (Sue), and Tracy Garrett, all of Anderson; sister, Alice Whitfield (Earl) of Anderson; 10 grandchildren, Nathan White, Kasi White, Jessie White, Breonna White, Tosha Tate, Scott Garrett, Haley Garrett, Christopher Massey, Tracy Garrett (Julie), and Josh Garrett (Becky); 6 great-grandchildren; and a special niece and nephew, Madison Powell and Austen Powell. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by Roger and James Powell. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Brad Shirley officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the residence on April 16, Monday evening after 5:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
