Miriam Luquire Pettigrew, age 88, of Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Hospice of The Upstate Rainey House. Born August 30, 1934, in Greenwood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Dolly Luquire. She was married for 37 years to Robert (Bob) Pettigrew until his death in 1994. Miriam was a graduate of Greenwood High School and the Anderson Memorial Hospital Nursing program. Miriam loved her family, being a nurse, and her church family at St. John's United Methodist Church. She retired after a full career as a public health nurse. Upon retirement, she committed her time to helping others through church outreach work. Miriam's friends and family will remember her as a kind, caring, and selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend for so many. She is survived by her brother, Charlie Luquire (Jo) of Pawleys Island; daughters, Lynn Kalinke (Martin), Laura Lawler (Steve), and son G. Robert Pettigrew (Teresa); seven grandchildren, Anna Webster (Jamie), Caroline Webb (Glen), Lydia Exarcos (Alex), Alston Pettigrew (Allison), Louisa Kalinke, Thomas Lawler (Patricia), Amber Hill (Marcus); and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the many caregivers and friends who showed their kindness and compassion throughout her illness. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2022, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the parlor of St. John's United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow visitation at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Wm. Kevin Cooley officiating. A private interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted, and memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's United Methodist Church Clothes Closet, 515 S. McDuffie St., Anderson, SC 29624.
