WHITECENTENARIANAUGUST 27, 1906 - JanUARY 24, 2009ANDERSON, SC ' Mary Eliza White, age 102, formerly of Boulevard Heights, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Ellenburg Nursing Center.Born in the State of Georgia on August 27, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Edgar White and Blanche Morris White. She was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School and received her nursing education from Anderson College. Miss White lived most of her life in Anderson ' beginning a career in nursing at the age of forty-one. As a lifelong nurse, she served her community in the Red Cross during World War II and taught nursing at both Emory University and Anderson Memorial Hospital. She provided excellent care at Anderson Memorial Hospital and Oconee Memorial Hospital. She finished her formal career as the Hospital Administrator of Hart County Hospital. Miss White continued her love of nursing serving as a 'private duty' nurse for friends and family for many years. Aside from nursing, she was completely dedicated to her family ' her endless love was constantly shown without condition. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: E. Victoria Davis and Eleanor B. White; and brothers: Thomas E. White, Sr., Scott White, James L. White; and a nephew reared in the home, Thomas E. White, Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Miss White is survived by many nephews & nieces, great nephews & nieces, great-great nephews & nieces, and even great-great-great nephews and nieces.A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 26, 2009, at Old Silver Brook Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Dr. Dennis R. Tedder.
