Mitchell Edward Swaney, age 68, of Pendleton, SC, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born December 10, 1956, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late James Woodrow Swaney and Vennie Chapman Swaney.

Mitchell formerly worked in the custodial department of Clemson University. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and was an avid USC Gamecocks fan. He was known for his sweet, and kind personality and believed you should always be polite. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Sheila Lark Swaney; son, Daniel Woodrow Swaney; daughter, Robin Lyndie Swaney; brothers, Sam Swaney, Perry Swaney, David Swaney, and Leon Swaney; sisters, Brenda Swaney Haynie and Miranda Rose Chastain; and grandchildren, Timothy Dale Rowland, III and Waylon Benson White.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery.
