Marlor John "Buck" Hooper, age 76, of 120 Elliott Circle, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston with his family by his side. Born in Banks County, GA, on September 20, 1940, Mr. Hooper was the son of the late Thomas Edwin Hooper and the late Maggie Wood Hooper. For fifty-seven years, Buck was the loving and faithful husband of his high school sweetheart, Shearer "Jimmie" Williams Hooper of the residence. Mr. Hooper was a graduate of Anderson Boys' High School, Class of 1958. He retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol after twenty-five years as a State Trooper. He was also a police officer with the Anderson Police Department, and served as a Bailiff for the Anderson Municipal Court. Buck is well known as an installer of sound systems and sound and video equipment in churches in Anderson and the surrounding area. He had a passion for recording church services and produced radio broadcasts around the world. Mr. Hooper was a faithful and devoted member of Temple Baptist Church in Anderson. In addition to his wife, Jimmie, Buck is survived by a son, Mark Thomas Hooper of Rosendale, NY; two daughters, Terri Hooper Harbin (Tim) of Anderson and Joy Hooper Sargent (Josh) of Williamston; six grandsons, J. T. Hooper, Brett Haning (Jessi), Jacob Hooper, Nick Haning, Dylan Sargent, and Dalton Sargent; one brother, Don Hooper (Jean) of Anderson and several nieces and nephews. Buck will be sorely missed by the many who knew and loved him. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mr. Hooper will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 2 P.M. at the Temple Baptist Church, with Reverend Dr. Steve Hurte officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Honorary Escort will consist of city, county, and state police officers, and the grandsons will be Pall Bearers. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M.
