Laurence Franklin Powers Townville, SC Laurence Franklin Powers, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Greenville, SC, on March 10, 1942, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Powers and the late Myrtice Hamrick Powers. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Laurence was a retired truck driver and had also worked as a security guard at LaFrance Industries. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Veda Hursey Powers; a son, Robert Lance Powers, of Martin, GA; two daughters, Martha Powers Aiken, of Landrum, SC; and Summer Powers, of the home; two brothers, Carroll and Roscoe Powers; six sisters, Thelma Butler, Bobbie Beck, Ruth Hilton, Mary Gravely, Becky Melton, and Martha Powers; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Clark and Ellen Trotter; and a brother, Lonnie Powers. The Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Military Honors. Reverend Bo Trotter will officiate. Interment will be held at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
