Myrtice Elizabeth Tomlinson Landers, age 95, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Rocky River Assisted Living in Belton. Born on April 24, 1920, in Cook County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. Tomlinson and the late Augusta Georgia Mathis Tomlinson. Myrtice was the loving and devoted wife of the late Floyd George Landers for sixty-three years until his death in 2002. For many years, Mrs. Landers was employed by Orr Mill where she worked as a cloth grader. For three years she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Anderson Memorial Hospital. Myrtice was a faithful member of Orrville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, including the Sonshine Class. She enjoyed writing poetry some of which was published. She also was an avid reader and gardener. Mrs. Landers leaves behind two sons, Floyd E. Landers and his wife, Martha Taylor, of Anderson, and Terry Landers and his wife, Dottie, of Anderson; a daughter, Janice Melody Landers of Anderson; a brother, Elwood Tomlinson and his wife, Lessie, of Valdosta, GA; eight grandchildren, Michael Kabbani, Robert Landers, Carol Cartee, Janet Jordan, John Preston Taylor, Karen Powell, Tommi Jordan, and Penny Vassar; also surviving are several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Floyd, Mrs. Landers was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Julie Eaton and Susan Landers; three brothers, Hobson, Joseph and William Tomlinson; and three sisters, Alma Tomlinson Futch, Lillian Tomlinson Smith, and Mae Tomlinson Smith. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Myrtice Landers will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Orrville Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Wendell Bannister officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
