Myrtle Brice Hughes, age 82, of Sandy Springs, SC, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017, at her residence, with her beloved family by her side. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Brice and the late Mattie Skinner Brice. For sixty-seven years, she was the loving and devoted wife to Jacob Daniel Hughes of the home. Mrs. Hughes was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills in LaFrance, SC, formerly known as LaFrance Industries. The job she loved most was that of being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Fants Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Jacob, Myrtle is survived by a son, Danny R. Hughes and his wife Cynthia of Townville; two daughters, Cynthia McGill and her husband Ronald of Anderson, and Susan Chapman, also of Anderson; three sisters, Jean Cash and husband Paul of Matthews, NC, Doris Bridges and husband Fred of Kings Mountain, NC, and Lois Bundrick and husband Freddie of Fountain Inn, SC; also surviving are five grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Brice and Albert Brice; and two sisters, Lucille Owens and Nellie Kimbrell Jackson. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Myrtle Hughes will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Castro officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
