The McDougald Funeral Home2211 North Main StreetAnderson, SC 29624864-224-4343OBITUARYNANCY BURTONOctober 12, 1935 - August 28, 2010Iva, SC -Mrs. Nancy Burton, 74, of 1305 East Broad Street, Iva, SC slipped peacefully into Eternal Life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 28th, 2010 at The Rainey Hospice House.Mrs. Burton was born on October 12, 1935 to the late J Z and Leyte Calvert Kirby in the Antreville community. She was a faithful member of Rocky River Baptist Church where she had served as pianist for many years. She was also retired from the Food Service Department at Anderson Area Medical Center.She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ansel, of the home. Mrs. Burton will also be sadly missed by her children and their spouses, Theo and Lisa Williams of Batesburg, SC and Linda and Guy Simpson, Gerald and Susan Burton and Michael Burton and his companion Debbie McMahan, all of Iva, SC. Mrs. Burton was affectionately known as Nannie and Grandma Nancy to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They include Audrey, Anna and Ted Williams; Rob and Sarah Latham and their children Brenton, Isabella and Ivy; Ana and Matt Morgan and their children Caroline, Jackson and Carter; Derrick and Leah Burton and their son Austin and expected son Dylan; Bryan and Rachel Burton; James Burton and his daughter Hailey; Jon Burton and his son Carson; and Holly Burton. Her extended family also includes 4 step-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. Sunday dinners and holidays will never be the same for them all without her wonderful cooking, especially her biscuits. Mrs. Burton is also survived by her special friend, neighbor, sister-in-law, and shopping partner, Juanita Burton. She loved and appreciated her brother-in-law Ray Burton and her other surviving sisters-in-law, Annie Smith, Esta Burton and Irene Kirby. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.In addition to her parents, her brothers Truman, George Robert, and James Kirby and her sister, Joan Bryant preceded her in death. She was also pre-deceased by two grandsons, Chris Latham and his infant brother, Jacob.Services will be Tuesday, August 31 at Rocky River Baptist Church, Iva, S.C. The family will receive friends at 10:00 with the service to follow at 11:00. The Reverends Steven Payne and Larry Cox will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Flowers are welcomed or contributions may be made to Rocky River Baptist Church, 3266 Lake Secession Road, Iva, SC 29655 or The Rainey Hospice House, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
