Nancy Ellen Carter, age 86, of Renaissance Assisted Living, Due West, SC, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born February 28, 1936, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late William Ray and the late Ethel Mildred Ray. She was of the Methodist faith. Nancy was a graduate of Montgomery High School in Montgomery, IN where she was a standout basketball player. In early years, Nancy was a seamstress, and later became an ammunition handler for the Crane Naval Ammunition Depot. Nancy was a former 4-H leader and was an active member of the American Legion and VFW. Throughout her life she held steadfast in being an American patriot. She is survived by her children, Glenda Bolt, Rick Armes (Kimmy), Brent Armes, Mark Armes (Betty Mae) and Cheryl Spicer; brother Jim Ray; grandchildren, Susan Fields (Rob), Brian Levi, Frank Armes, Sherry Lynn Brown, Rocky Armes, Valerie Loftis (Barry), Jessie Armes, Maranda Winter (John), Marcus Armes, II (Tiffany), and Brock Armes; twenty great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Craig Armes; grandson, Clayton Armes; brother, Robert Ray; half-sister, Muriel; and great-granddaughter, Kristina Armes. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm at the McDougald Funeral Home.
