Nancy Ashley Cochran of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Upstate on Friday, July 28, 2023, with her daughter by her side.
Nancy was born in Anderson, South Carolina on September 19, 1945. She was the daughter of Laurice and Eleanor DuPre Ashley and the wife of the late John "Billy" William Cochran, III.
Nancy was a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School Class of 1963 and was responsible for putting together many class reunions for her classmates. Through the years she served on several boards, clubs, and committees. She was a member of the Junior League of Anderson, The Anderson Garden Club, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and Central Presbyterian Church. She worked as a teacher and was later the respected director of the Preschool at Central Presbyterian for thirty years and only just retired at the age of seventy.
Nancy was an exceptional daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a wonderful friend. She enjoyed being with her family, playing bridge with her friends, and meeting with her "Hanna's Gals" for lunch. Her passions were gardening, reading, and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Her patience, gentle nature, and kind spirit will be missed but not forgotten. She is resting now peacefully with her life-long love, Billy Cochran, who just passed on May 8th. They were married for fifty-eight years.
Nancy is survived by her three daughters, Kelly and her husband Kym Cleveland, Lisa and her husband Kevin Moorhead and Carrie and her husband Josh Pannell; grandchildren, Jeffrey Cleveland and his wife Savannah, Johnathan Cleveland, Katelin Moorhead, Devin Brady and her husband Grant, Tye Moorhead, Mary DuPre Pannell, and William Pannell; and one great grandchild Tripp Brady; sister, Joanne Phillips; nieces and nephews; and her earthly sister and brother, Marian and Larry Lyles.
A private family committal service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, July 29, 2023. A celebration of Nancy's life will follow at Central Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am in the sanctuary. Immediately after the service, the family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall.
