Nancy GilmerOctober 9, 1924 - September 28, 2008ANDERSON, SCNancy Payne Gilmer, age 83, of Anderson, SC, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at AnMed Health Medical Center, following a brief illness.Born in Anderson, SC on October 9, 1924, Nancy was a daughter of the late Harold Payne and Mattie Bolt Payne. She was a graduate of Girls High and attended Anderson College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson, where she attended the Dorcas Sunday School Class.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert Lee Gilmer, and one daughter, Cathy Whisenhunt. Her survivors include a daughter, Nancy Gilmer Turner and her husband, Richard of Havana, FL; a son Robert L. Gilmer and his wife Harriet of Anderson, SC; a son-in-law, Dick Whisenhunt and his wife, Reba of Anderson, SC; a brother, James M. Payne and his wife Betty Ann of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren, Christy Whisenhunt Graves, Mandy Whisenhunt Haggan, Robert Andrew Whisenhunt, Steven Payne Whisenhunt, and Elizabeth Payne Gilmer; and six great-grandchildren.The Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 officiated by the Reverend Jerry Hayes and the Reverend Dr. James R. Thomason. A private family committal service will be held in Old Silverbrook Cemetery at a later date.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 29, 2008 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm.The family will be at the home of her son, Robert, 607 Sherry Drive, Anderson, SCMemorials may be made to Meals on Wheels P.O.
