She was a graduate of Travelers Rest High School and attended North Greenville Technical School and Furman University and graduated from the University of South Carolina. She retired from MCI in Greenville and was a former employee of Greenville News. She was in the foster parent program for four years, helping several children during that time. She was a member of Trinity Springs Church of God and was a former member and pianist at Pebble Creek Baptist Church in Greenville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Claude G. Swain of the home; nephew, Ben Harvey of Travelers Rest, SC.She was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Harvey.A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens officiated by the Reverend James Patterson and Reverend Scott Vaughn. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.Flowers are optional.
