Nancy Haynie Partain, age 86, formerly of Starr, SC, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at The Inn on Villa Lane in Napa, CA.
Born August 18, 1939, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Haynie and Inez Smith Haynie. She was married for 58 years to W. Ray Partain, Sr. until his death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wendell Ray Partain, Jr.; and brothers, D.A. Haynie, Richard Haynie, James Haynie, and Leroy Haynie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Nancy was a graduate of Anderson High School Class of 1958 and retired from food services in the cafeteria with Anderson School District Five. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women's Hope Sunday School Class. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and serving others. She enjoyed playing board games, puzzles, and Bingo and also loved shopping, especially at Hamrick's. Nancy had a talent for knitting and crocheting and shared her abilities with many people over the years. Her greatest joy was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Robin Porter (Bob) of California and Russell Partain of Kansas. She was affectionately called "Grams" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored, Travis Porter, Lauren Yadav (Saagar), and Lindsay O'Brien (Shane); great grandchildren, Remy, Presley, Aiden, Aana, Aman, and Amara. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Carolyn Payton.
The service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm at New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. James R. Gray officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service at the church. Mrs. Partain's final resting place will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 4258, Anderson, SC 29622.
