Obituary

NANNIE GUNTERJULY 9, 1921 - OctoBER 11, 2009PENDLETON, SC ' On October 11, 2009, Ms. Nannie Mae Durham Gunter of 115 Shirley Street, Village Square Apartments, was called home by her heavenly Father. She was the widow of Guy Woodrow Gunter, her beloved husband of thirty-four years. Ms. Gunter retired from Equinox Mill and had made her home in Starr, SC, for forty-one years, until moving back to her hometown, Pendleton, SC, for the last six years. Wherever she lived, her home was always open to many. She was a member of East Clemson Christian Fellowship, where she welcomed with open arms her Pastor and her church family. Nannie also cherished her friends and neighbors at Village Square. She was quick to tell others how good her neighbors were, especially Lorene Burroughs. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Her extended survivors include her sister-in-law, Mrs. Cliff 'Elzy' Durham and over two hundred nieces & nephews. Nannie has joined many loved ones that have gone on before. She looked forward to the day that she could look upon the face of her blessed Savior and once again be with her devoted son, William 'Bill' Carithers; also waiting inside the gate, her father & mother --Paskell Emory Durham & Sara Elizabeth 'Lizzy' Swaney Durham; her sister, Lois Cargill; and brothers: William, Eddie, Ernest, Ellis, Cliff, Adger, and Clyde Durham.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, October 12, 2009, from 6 pm until 8 pm. A Service of Celebration of her Life will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 3 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Fred Fisher and the Reverend Mike Harrell. She will be laid to rest between her loving husband & son at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.Nephews, great nephews, and great-great nephews will serve as Pallbearers. Great-great nieces will serve as Flower Girls.
