William Neal Hicks, age 63, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at his residence. Born in Anderson, SC, on August 15, 1952, he was the son of Syble Shirley Hicks and the late William Prue Hicks. Before beginning his career in education, Neal worked for John B. Lee. He was a teacher and coach at McDuffie High School; he served as Guidance Counselor at BHP and retired from Southwood Middle School as Guidance Counselor. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fianc, Cathy Shiflet; a daughter, Sarah Hicks Wood; a sister, Karen Ray and her husband Greg; a niece, Taylor Ray; and a nephew, Matt Ray and his wife Lauren and their children, Kaitlyn and Jaxson. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Jackie Arnold and Reverend Kendall Hicks officiating. The family will gather for a time of visitation following the service. The family will be at the home of Karen and Greg Ray.
