Nelle Elizabeth Balliew Clyde, age 90, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Martha Franks Retirement Community. Born on February 4, 1927, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Freeman Balliew and the late Annie Bell Hardin Balliew. Following graduation from high school, she received an associate's degree from North Greenville, and a bachelor's degree from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. Mrs. Clyde was an elementary school teacher for several years, teaching in the Union County School System. For sixty-eight years, she was the loving and devoted wife of Rev. William P. Clyde who also is a resident of Martha Franks Retirement Community. She was a sweet and caring wife and mother that loved the Lord, music, children, and teaching, as well as truly supporting her husband's ministry in various Baptist Churches around the State of South Carolina. In addition to her beloved husband, Bill, Mrs. Clyde is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Clyde Barbeauld and her husband Rob, of Alpharetta, GA. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Clyde will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at 2 p.m., at the Rasor Chapel at Martha Franks Retirement Community of Laurens, SC., with the Reverend Dr. Lawton Neely officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories in Belton, SC. A time of visitation will be held at the Martha Franks Retirement Center on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., just prior to the service.
