Juanita Duncan Martin, age 89, wife of J.C. Martin for 71 years, passed away on November 19, 2017, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC, on January 8, 1928, she was a daughter of the late C.L. Duncan and the late Ollie Simpson Duncan. Nita was retired from The Singer Co./Ryobi after 24 years of service. She was an active member of Flat Rock Baptist Church for over 61 years, where she served in various ministry positions. She was a member of the church W.M.U., and was the past director of the Children's Choir. She also served as church Pianist and the Organist for over 60 years. In addition to her husband, J.C. Martin of the home, she is survived by a son, Johnny Martin (Margie) of Starr, SC; a daughter, Terry Trotter of Starr, SC; a sister, Mary Mag Neely (Doug) of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren, Chess Martin (Chastity), Erin Hanks (Jason), and Rana T. Masters; seven great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; and five sisters. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, at Flat Rock Baptist Church, 908 Flat Rock Rd., Anderson, SC 29624, with Rev. Ed Hunsinger officiating. Interment will follow at Flat Rock Cemetery.
