NORENE BURGESS BELTON, SCNorene Singleton Burgess, formerly of 16816 Brown Avenue Extension, Belton, SC, died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at the Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late James Oscar and Florene Lollis Singleton. She was the widow of James Allen Burgess.She graduated from Anderson College where she was a charter member of the Annie Dove Denmark Society. She completed her degree at Erskine College and Furman University. She taught school for 30 years in Williamston and Belton and was a member of the Anderson County Retired Educators Association. Norene was a member of First Baptist Church of Belton, SC., where she was active in the Philathea/Fidelis Sunday School class and Woman's Missionary Union. She is survived by her son, Philip Allen Burgess of Anderson, SC; two daughters, Beth Burgess Smith of Richmond, VA and Jane Burgess Rice of Greenville, SC; three grandsons, Matthew Smith, Daniel Smith and Towers Rice; one sister, Addie Lee Lockaby; three brothers, Ralph Singleton, Billy Singleton and J.O. Singleton, Jr.A Service of remembrance and celebration will be held on Monday, February 13, 2006 at 2:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Belton with the Reverend T. Dale Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Belton, SC.The family will receive friends in the Family Room of the First Baptist Church from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm preceding the service.Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Belton, P.O.
