Norman Charles Bresette died peacefully at NHC Health Care on January 2, 2021, in Anderson, South Carolina, at the age of 87.
Norm is survived by his daughter, Valerie Boatwright of Central; son, Michael Bresette of Simpsonville; granddaughters Lauren Bresette and Colleen Williams (Trent) of Simpsonville, and Lillian Boatwright of Clemson; and great-granddaughter Claire Boatwright of Clemson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Anna Bresette (Greenleaf) of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and his wife, Gloria (Childress) of the home.
Norman was born on September 17, 1933 in Sanford, Maine. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, in 1951, and attended the University of Massachusetts before joining General Electric's Apprentice Training Program in Pittsfield in 1952. He advanced his career as a draftsman rapidly, including two-and-a-half years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1956-1958. Following military service, he returned to GE in Pittsfield until 1964, when he was transferred to GE's Apollo Systems Department in Huntsville, Alabama, where he worked until transferring to Greenville in 1973. A true "company man," he retired from General Electric in 1994 with over 44 years of service.
Norm was accomplished at drawing and was often called upon to share his artistic talents with friends and co-workers. He was a kind man who loved the Lord, his family, his pipes, and bowling. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a lifetime supporter and member of the NRA.
The family would like to express their thanks the nurses and staff at AnMed Health Medical Center, NHC Health Care, and particularly Caris Hospice, for their professionalism and kindness.
A private celebration of Norman's life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Caris Hospice, 129 Straight Dr., Anderson, SC 29626.
