Opal Pauline McCormick Norman, age 97, of West Columbia, SC, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Lexington Medical Center.

Born November 17, 1926, in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Raymond McCormick and Rendy Oretha McCormick Oliver. She was married to James G. Norman, Sr., until his death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Oliver; and sister, Lillian Mallory.

Opal was a faithful Christian who wanted nothing more than for everyone to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, James G. Norman, Jr.; daughters, Janet Fay Broome, Virginia Elizabeth Calloway, and Emily Delores Jumper; sisters, Doris Olive, Alice Brockwell, Sally Thomas, and Grace Hamilton; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 12:00-1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
